Sparrow

Sparrow, originally uploaded by San Nakji.

I had this idea to start writing a diary.

Why does one write a diary? I guess it's to talk to your inner self. It's a chance to reflect on what you are thinking in words. It seems to me that women are better at diaries than men. Is that just a sexist observation by me or is it true? I guess, if it is true, it is because women tend to be more in touch with themselves. I think that's a really good thing. If you become detatched from what and who you are then you can lose sight of where you need to be.

I started writing my diary and it really only lasted a few days. I just didn't want to talk to myself very much. I mean, I know what I am thinking anyway... Or do I?

When I was a kid I went on a round the world trip with my mum and sister. My friend gave me a travel diary to record where I went and what I saw. I can quote the contents of the diary word for word.

"Today we arrived in Japan"

After that I must have lost interest...

So I am going to try again. This time I am going to write to someone. I will impart the wealth of my knowledge to my son. Then on the second day I will write complete garbage instead. I hope my son appreciated what I will tell him

san i LOVE this idea. diary/journal/blogs for me structure my life. i need to write to have a handle on what i'm doing and thinking about. not only that, i need to sit down and hammer something out every day. regardless if it's good or not.

it's elementary wittgenstein; rules and obstacles in the world do not impede you, they constitute you entirely.

to have an account of what you're doing now to show your son, or the rest of your family only makes it that much more important and interesting. :) ganbatte!

Hi San Nakji !

I hope you'll forgive me being not as often coming than not such a long time ago, and reading you
Hmmm, I'm noticing that it was not a real problem, I'm not too late
;o)

It's a good idea to note your thoughts, however, did you read what you wrote here ? It seeems to me you've forgot your decision already, or maybe you thought nothing new ?

When I was living in Maroco and waiting the birth of my daughter, I wrote often to my father and he kept the letters for me
Then I was happy to havr thenm back, for my dauhter
I was telling how she was moving, she was for me like a little butter piece and moving so much. How was it possible and so on during 9 monthes

What a pity, I've a brother almost mad and he threw away these letters

My aunt kept six little notebooks that my grand'oncle wrote during the WW1 when he was a general. I have these notebooks at my home
I never read them already, I'm too busy now commenting my friends,, posting, and so on
;o)
I must read them once, I'll do it before I'll die, I hope so !

So, before I go to bed now, I'll add something very important :

Beautiful picture, indeed, of a bird which I know you love particularly and you use to call a survivor

Night night, San Nakji

Good plan. I just recently finished my first journal. I've started many but I think this may be the first one finished. And over half of it was written since Christmas. I started it in June.

Life is so weird. You thought "never", and though it arrives one day....
When I'm looking at what it was an year past, it was not the same, my blogging landscape was so different....

Maybe is it simply life going, and you must admit it....

Aren't blogs modern diaries?

I found my 1997 travel journal the other day. I only wrote about the first three days of my trip to the UK. I had almost forgotten some of what happened back then (like getting on the wrong train at Gatwick Airport). So, travel diaries are great, but only if they aren't cutting into your travel time.
