Thoughts for the Week

It feels like the week has only just started and it is Wednesday! Yesterday was ANZAC Day, which is the Rememberance / Memorial Day for New Zealand and Australia. I have written about my feelings on this before, so I won't go through this again, but if you are interested I am sure there is a post about it around this time last year. Anyway, it was a holiday which is good. That means we have had three weeks of only four working days. Wonderful. However, we now have no more holidays scheduled until late June when we celebrate Queen's Birthday.

I started writing this piece this morning and now it is the afternoon. Apparently I have a lot of thoughts in the morning, but in the PM they vanish... It is a sad state of affairs when you are as old as me, the mind is the first thing to go. I had all these thoughts lined up... argggh! I am the poster child for Alzheimer's.

Oh yeah, I remember now. I am thinking of writing a book. I have some personal experiences I would like to relate about a certain topic. I am not sure whether, after I have finished writing, there will be enough for a book, but I am not really under any deadline so let's see how we go. Any advice? Has anyone else had a go at a book? I am also keen on doing some children's stories for a member of my family. I would like to do some illustrations, but I just can't get it right. Would someone like to help me out by showing me how to draw a dragon? Not just any dragon, but a Chinese one... They are the friendly magical kind...

I have also updated my blog list with three more links. They are getting a bit out of control, so eventually I will clean them up, not sure how. My three links are; Cergipontin, a blogger from France who posts photos of her hometown, near Paris. Roman, who provokes interesting debate with his opinion. I don't agree with him generally, but he is very accomodating to other opinions. Red Slipper Lady, who has been a great commenter on my blog. I should have added her sooner, but I, as always, have been really slack!

That's it for now, keep cool 'til after school!

San Nakji for President!

I enjoyed your thoughts.

There is a piece of software you should get if you are writing a book. I cannot remember anything about it.

I have attempted three screenplays. I need to take some time off and finish one of them. It's tough getting focused on a project. I recommend making an outline.

P.S. - I noted your current movie -I loved The Life Aquatic.

Thanks for the kudos, my friend! Have a glorious day and may you only remember the important things worth remembering.

Bloggers who have been around for some time find themselves in quite the predicament, because there are bound to be blogs that you like but just don't have the time to read. As far as a book, that's so hard! Really! But make a go for it and just see what happens. ;-)

I definitely think you should write a book. It is a great idea! With your sense of humor and your creativity, I think it would be wonderful.

Hey, when you are famous and stuff, will you still remember us "little people"?? Can I get your autograph now, so I can say I was the first to get it? *smiles*

I wish you lots of luck and if there is anything I can do to help, you know just to ask. *HUGS*

i had a go at a book when i was 16. wrote 75 pages or so, almost got it published by a major publishing company. they told me to try back after college, and it's all been downhill from there. ;)

seriously though, just write what's in your head, get it as right as you can, and then shop it around to agents. they'll take care of the rest.

As far as the book goes, you could spend a billion dollars going back to school and write a thesis or dissertation, which really is a book, just one very few will ever read. What fun.

I always wanted to write a book but the every-day struggles of work and family obligations have kept me from even getting started.
A good friend, who has written a book, told me to first focus on a theme, like, say science fiction, then to just write stuff, even if it is disjointed and may make no sense. He claims that after continuous editing and rewriting, which he says is 80% of the actual work, a real book starts to develop and that is when it gets really exciting. Once complete, a new battle starts, finding a publisher.

I'm sure nobody will read that comment for now...
That's sure, you must write a roman, but not a roman of *conneries, but a roman *sincère...
