Stingrays beware!

More evidence that Australia is a special country... and not in a good way!

From BBC News

Dead stingrays with their tails cut off have been found in Australia, sparking concern that fans of naturalist Steve Irwin may be avenging his death.

Mr Irwin, a TV personality known as the "Crocodile Hunter", was killed while diving in Queensland when a stingray's barb stabbed him in the chest.

Since then, 10 stingrays have been found mutilated on Queensland beaches.

Government officials said they were investigating the deaths and there could be prosecutions.

Two stingrays were found at a beach north of Brisbane with their tails cut off, while eight were found on another beach on Monday.

San Nakji for President!

I'm wondering what or who are "stingrays", man or animal ?
I read a strange story relating the story of a guy meeting a young girl then having a journey with her by bus until a cimetary area. She asked if he was a soldier, he answered "oh no, I'm not". And then they met an aviator in a coffeeshop. She said: "you may go now, I'm arrived, I'll go home alone"...

The next day, he bought a ring for her, he went to the cinema where she was working, she was not there. The boss told him that this young woman killed the aviator near a cimetery, she was a serial killer of soldiers for the time when her fiancé had been killed by one of them.
What a pitty, i don't remember who wrote that novel nor what is the title of it...

Ah !
Daphne du Maurier (British) wrote this story.
I found it in the book "the birds and others stories": a lot of novels, and especially "the birds" adapted by Hitchcock for the cinema.
One novel of this book that I like, very, very, very much is "the old man".
And the name of the story I told you is "kiss me again, stranger".
These novels are short and very easy to read, and somebody who has not yet read them is lucky: he may discover them for the first time !

It's very sad what has happened. I hope people understand that it was an accident that Steve died. He would NEVER want people to take revenge on the innocent animals.

That is so sad. The stingrays don't deserve it; but people now fear and hate them more than ever.

Good thing he wasn't killed by a shark.

I know now what they are : fishes.
In France we eat their wings, but their are smaller.
Good cooked with black butter and vineger sauce + capers. Oh ! I hope you know what is caper.

We buy these fishes directly at the fish boat, when it comes back in the port.
And I keep the wings in the freezer. But we are not interested with the tail. Not good to eat.

Did you have a good week end , SN ?
