Happy New Year! 새해 복 많이 받으십시오!

Today is the first day of the Korean New Year. It is year of the Dog this year. I have no idea whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. It is surely a thing!

If I were in Korea right now I would be doing something interesting like jumping on a seesaw. (well maybe not, considering the last time I did it I was almost paraplegic San Nakji...) However since I am in Aotearoa, I called the family in Seoul and now am going to bed.

Another installment of the always amazing life of San Nakji. Stay tuned for more action!

San Nakji for President!

Do they also perform Dragon dance?

Hi Fahd,

The dragon dance is a purely Chinese thing. Generally New Year for Koreans is more somber.

REminds me of a children's book I read to my son. We learned that he was born under the sign of the snake, and I a rabbit.
