In many parts of the world, but especially in Asia, the swastika (from Sanskrit) is a symbol of peace. It infuriates me that whenever I see it on a temple I can only think of a short German wanker with a small growth on his lip.
Wikipedia has a very good, although long, article on this ancient symbol. I recommend you having a look at it. The photo of the Korean temple there is the same temple I took the above photos at.
San Nakji for President!

How to explain, it may happen that beautiful symbol would beused for bad causes
And unhappily after that, these symbols are for a long time dirty
It's the sama with christian names, for instance "adolph" nobody young has this name
In the past "guillaume" (= william)which was the name of the German emperor, nobody in Francewas called so, now it's a christian name very usual
I think however that the "croix gammee" will keep its bad reputation for ever
symbol is such powerful emblem...back home we actually have a red swastika school runs by a buddhist association...
