Tagging Places #2

Here is El Paso from behind a bush. I haven't ever been to this part of the world, but it sounds quite interesting. One city stradling two countries. I wonder if you can put one foot in Mexico and one foot in USA? Now that would be fun. As long as the El Pasoans keep feeding my TexMex I will be happy. I can even shelter under their lovely trees!

My only experience in Texas was in El Paso as a young teen. My family went through there on the drive to Carlsbad Caverns in nearby New Mexico. Our cheap-ass dad decided to gas up the gas-guzzling motorhome in Ciudad Juarez, right across the Rio Grande River in Mexico. Well, Juarez roads weren't geared for a big vehicle like that, and we were lucky to get out alive. My mom was so upset about the incident that we drove out of El Paso as quickly as possible. This view reminds me of Albuquerque, though.

AWESOME PIC!! That picture was taken from Scenic Drive. Scenic Dr. run along a ridge of the Franklin Mountains that divides the city in half.

From this vantage point, you are looking into the downtown area and behind that, the mountains you see are in Mexico.

Yes, is it possible to put one foot in Mexico and one foot in the US. You can do that at any one of the bridge crossings here in town.

The plant you see in this photo is called the Yucca plant. It is a native of this area and are actually endangered. We used to see tons of them scattered all around the region, but with construction and all, and new developement everywhere, there aren't as many Yuccas as there used to be.

From this point, I live about 18 miles east of it. I live on the eastside of El Paso.

Thanks San Nakji for such a great photo and for putting up a little about El Paso!!!

Blessings!

Thanks for giving me my bearings Ori!
Kushibo - It sucks how a little incident can really colour your opinion of certain places. I have an irrational hatred for Cambridge in UK. Something to do with rain and one way streets....
